Pioneer Woman(ish)

I've been thinking of starting a blog for sometime now.  Mostly, as some sort of creative release.  But, also because I hopefully have a few tidbits of useful information to share.  And if not, atleast it's a way to communicate and share.  (As if Facebook isn't enough!)

Darrell and I have been married for almost 6 months now.  I love this man with every fiber of my being.  He is THE ONE.   I'm his better half.  ; )  He is all of my romantic notions realized!!  I feel amazingly lucky and humbled by our relationship.  We do not have a perfect relationship.  It's hard.  Together, we have FOUR kids for God's sake.  But, it's all okay because I know we are the REAL DEAL.  :)

I have often joked about the fact that I've recently become THE ACCIDENTAL HOUSEWIFE.  Not something I ever wanted to be or envisioned for my life.  But here I am.  Up to my elbows in laundry with a husband, four kids, a dog, and 57 acres filled with wildlife just waiting for my GREAT WHITE HUNTER of a husband to get them.   And, I'm happy!  It's crazy but I am.

Darrell and I watch alot of Food Network.  Cooking is fastly becoming my hobby.  Yes, I've traded my red high heels in for cast iron and spoons!  Bobby Flay, or as I refer to him, THE GODFATHER OF FOOD, is one of our favorites.  ARE YOU READY FOR A THROWDOWN?  Enter....Ree Drummond...The Pioneer Woman.  She totally kicked his butt.  YAY!!!  Her story reminded me of mine.  She coins herself as THE ACCIDENTAL COUNTRY GIRL.  So, that has led me here...to starting this blog!  He bought me her cookbook for Christmas.  Yum.  Yum.  I made her Chicken Spaghetti for dinner tonight.  It was sooooo good.  I loved it.  I followed the recipe exactly.  It makes a lot.  Plenty for my family plus left overs!!!  Try it.   Let me know what you think.  Chicken Spaghetti by The Pioneer Woman/Ree Drummond

  1. Ok, the Chicken Spaghetti is great but the White Chicken Enchiladas are unbelievable. You may want to cut down on the chile's a bit if your kids are spice sensitive. Oh goodness, everything in that cookbook is AMAZING.

  2. Thanks, Laurie! White Chicken Enchiladas on the menu for Thursday. I couldn't find it in my cookbook so I got it from the website. I'm also doing the Braised Beef Brisket on Tuesday. My husband loves brisket!!! :))

  3. I need to try the brisket...never cooked one. Beef short ribs on website are outstanding as well, pain in the but...but awesome. Publix seems to be the only place to find beef short ribs.
